October 19th



Karcher Character Students of the Week
Every week five students will be chosen by our staff for "Karcher Character Student of the Week".  One student from every house (Onyx, Diamond, Hive, & Silver) along with one from the applied academic courses.  The 6th student is chosen from the Karcher Character Bucks students receive throughout the week.  All 6 of these students displayed positive character behaviors within our 8 focused traits:  

Be... responsible, respectful, kind, safe, honest, loyal, compassionate, courageous.

Reminders/Information

  • October 19th to 23rd 8th grade students will be called to the health office for their vision screening.  If they wear corrective lenses please make sure they wear them throughout this week. 
  • Students arriving late to school starting on November 9th will be allowed three tardies.  After three tardies the student will receive a lunch detention.  Please assist with helping your son/daughter arrive to school on time.  
  • Free flu vaccines will be available on November 4, 2015 from 1:00 - 5:00pm @ Burlington High School - Cafeteria.   Please go to www.crchd.com with further information.
  • October 25th is our Outdoor Education spaghetti dinner night here at Karcher in the cafeteria.
    • Time:  4:00 - 7:00
    • Cost:  8 dollars per ticket with 5 year-olds or younger eating for free.
    • Pre-tickets can be purchased from any 8th grade student or Mr. Jones (mjones@basd.k12.wi.us)
    • A 50/50 raffle and silent auction will be onsite!
    • Proceeds go to Outdoor Education and other field trips for our students


Field Trip Dates:
  • October 13th - Student Counsel field trip to Camp MacLean.
  • October 20th the Hive House will be going to Madison to the State Capital/Vets Museum.
  • October 22nd the Silver House will be going to Madison to the State Capital/Vets Museum.

Employment Opportunities with BASD:
Do you enjoy working with children and desire a flexible schedule? The Burlington School District is hiring part-time Substitute Teacher Aides. Substitute schedules and needs will vary from day to day. All assignments involve assisting the classroom teacher and working with students in small groups or individual support.  Playground and lunchroom supervising duties may be included in some schedules. Applicants must be available to receive phone calls from 5:30am until 7am for same day assignments and future assignments. Please submit an application at the district office, 100 N.
